Spring update

Spring has sprung and it seems only appropriate at this time of renewal and new beginnings that we’re celebrating a flock of fresh starts and exciting achievements!

New Faces

It seems live events are more popular than ever. To help accommodate our burgeoning schedules, we’re very pleased to welcome two new team members. Kathleen Wilkinson (L) and Catherine Lindsley (R) have joined our Sales team as Account Managers.

With a wealth of experience between them, we’ve already been wowed by their contributions and can’t wait for you to meet them! We have even more fresh team members joining very soon, and we’re so excited to welcome them aboard and to using their new energy and talent to further improve our clients’ experience.

You can find out more about them, and our other team members, in the Meet The Team section on our About page on the website.

New Tech

We’ve upped the ante yet again on the tech front with a major upgrade to our connectivity. Along with our service partners Max WiFi, we’ve stepped up to WiFi 6, meaning our clients can benefit from even faster downloads, increased reliability and even reduced battery drain for mobile devices.

We’re already proud of our generous 10Gb fibre optic primary connection and this latest improvement will enhance the event experience and makes Tobacco Dock one of the best-equipped venues in the UK.

New Ideas

Our in-house catering team, Tobacco Dock Food, have long been advocates of giving back, with annual Christmas dinners for Buses 4 Homeless, long-term partnerships with City Harvest and more. We’re delighted to announce that they’ve taken things a step further!

They are members of the One Feeds Two initiative, meaning that for every meal they sell, they donate a meal to a child living in poverty. In the past they have run the scheme with their Christmas parties, but have now rolled out to include conference catering too. Perfect for helping your clients hit their CSR goals, so far the initiative has resulted in 78,645 school meals donated by Tobacco Dock Food.

Another sustainable foodie update is that from now on, enlisting Olio to redistribute uneaten event food will no longer be an add on to catering contracts and will instead be adopted as standard and as needed, with no additional cost to clients.

NEW INSPIRATION

At the end of February we hosted our service partner Anna Valley‘s Inspiration Showcase for the second year in a row.  The theme of ‘Bring Back the Fun’ celebrated everything only in-person events can deliver. Innovative tech solutions created memorable experiences for everyone attending, along with plenty of ideas for ways in which they can be applied to events to improve attendees’ immersion and sense of delight.

Having Anna Valley as our in-house audio-visual service partner gives our clients access to the very best in the business and we love working with them to consistently elevate the event experience for clients and attendees alike.

One of the things we know our clients love about Tobacco Dock is the meeting of historical details and cutting-edge tech – combining to deliver a thoroughly modern venue. The Inspiration Showcase was a perfect example of this in action.

New Wins

We’re looking forward to hosting events with both new and returning clients! The Bike Shed will be back with us for the 8th time next month, while The AI Summit is coming back in June (you’ll find the case study from last year’s event on the Case Studies page very soon).

Foodies will be delighted to hear that favourites such as Meatopia, Junipalooza, La Piñata and London Craft Beer Festival will be making their returns this summer, while we’ve been excited to have achieved a slew of fresh client wins that we can’t quite talk about yet… watch this space!
