About the event

A global investment management firm sought to create a bold, boundary-pushing experience to engage its senior leadership team in their new strategy. The goal was to take attendees out of their comfort zones, fostering real-time conversations, problem-solving, and experiential learning. The event design placed people at the heart of every moment, shifting perspectives and strengthening connections through interactive and immersive sessions.

Why Tobacco Dock?

Tobacco Dock’s versatile warehouse-style spaces provided the perfect setting to break away from conventional conference formats. The venue’s unique layout encouraged fresh thinking, while its mix of grand halls, interconnecting rooms, and atmospheric spaces allowed for a fully immersive event experience. The flexibility of the venue enabled seamless integration of key event elements, including a dramatic plenary stage with a curved screen and immersive breakout areas featuring actor-led sessions, a life-sized game, and a fictional TV show.

The organisers used the space in clever ways to take delegates on an engaging journey throughout the day and to ensure that, despite there being fewer than 200 attendees, the event felt bustling and well-attended.

Our in-house team worked closely with the organisers to accommodate last-minute changes and ensure smooth delivery. The secure environment of Tobacco Dock allowed high-profile attendees to move freely, while our award-winning catering received excellent feedback for providing a memorable dining experience.

While the Little Gallery was used as the main plenary space, most of the space was draped off to visitors upon arrival. Delegates gathered at the far end of the room and watched an introductory video, after which, the draping ‘magically’ pulled aside to reveal the rest of the room. White box sides with projections running the length of the room and a V-shaped stage jutting into the room helped to keep the focus central, creating an immersive, theatrical feel that set the tone for the rest of the day.

The end results

The event was a first-of-its-kind experience, successfully pushing boundaries and driving engagement among senior leaders. The immersive design, combined with the seamless support from the Tobacco Dock team, enabled meaningful conversations and lasting connections.

The closing video reinforced the event’s key messages, while post-event interactive digital content ensured continued impact. The organisers praised Tobacco Dock’s adaptability, efficiency, and expertise in bringing their ambitious vision to life
