Making connections

a breakdown of the Festival of Marketing event

Tobacco Dock has hosted the annual Festival of Marketing since 2013. Offering marketing professionals an immersive experience, the event encompassed plenary speeches, workshops and activations. Attendees could gain a fresh perspective and inspiration alongside practical application as well as making connections with other industry peers.

The Festival of Marketing team were delighted with the collaboration of the sales, operations and facilities teams in producing their event. Building upon the past Festivals held here at Tobacco Dock and using their wealth of experience in working within the building, our team was able to ensure the entire event ran like a well-oiled machine.

The stripped-back and striking interiors provide the perfect backdrop for imaginative branding which was used to great effect across the event.

Why Tobacco Dock?

The organisers enjoy how the versatile layout and adaptable spaces suit the format of their event. While the Quayside level spaces work well for content and stage sessions, the Vaults level areas are great for their sponsors to create their own interactive experience rooms. Additionally, the scale of our larger spaces in the Great and Little Galleries, means that they are able to conduct talks for large audiences. With so many common spaces, such as the walkways and fountains, there’s ample opportunity for smaller mingles and catering points.

As well as spaces with multiple capacities, it was also necessary to be able to provide areas which would be easily and rapidly adapted to different uses. For example, the Great Gallery was used for their awards ceremony on the Wednesday evening, transforming into their main stage for the festival on the following two days.

Ground Level

The Festival of Marketing took over the majority of spaces in the venue putting them to a variety of different uses. The Great Gallery was used for headliners while breakout talks went on in the rest of the ground floor spaces.

Vaults Level

The Vaults level spaces were used for activations and exhibition space. One particular highlight was the world-renowned photographer Rankin taking over one of the barrel-ceilinged South Vaults spaces and creating a pop-up studio, taking free headshots of attendees.
