Alteryx Inspire Europe

Alteryx Inspire Europe 2019 was a four-day event, divided into two days of training followed by two days of conference delivery. Now in its third year, the Inspire Europe event has grown from its original attendance of 750 guests in its inaugural year at Tobacco Dock in 2017 to over 5,000 in 2019.

With over 2,000 data-centric business people, customers and partners converging each day to build skills and share knowledge about the future of data analytics, the organisers made effective use of our spaces to create a seamless and bustling, but never over-crowded, journey through the venue. Now in its third year, the Inspire Europe event has grown from its original attendance of 750 guests in its inaugural year at Tobacco Dock in 2017, to 5,000 over 4 days in 2019.

Why did Alteryx choose Tobacco Dock?

This was a return to the venue after a year’s hiatus and we were delighted to welcome them back. The large capacity and versatility of our venue was a major draw for Alteryx, whose event has expanded significantly over the past few years. Proximity to transport links was important as well as the inimitable Tobacco Dock depth of history and atmosphere.

The Tobacco Dock experience

This was a fantastically innovative event with which we were delighted to be involved. To promote engagement among attendees, the organisers played with the gamification of elements within the event, with delegates completing challenges around the venue as part of the content and then collecting prizes from the ‘Swag Store’ set up in the bandstand. A great way to promote engagement and a brilliant use of the bandstand!

Due to the size of the event, a keynote overflow was created in the Little Gallery for those who couldn’t fit into the Great Gallery. Our Dante over IP audio system means that we can easily share audio and video across the venue.

We partnered with OLIO, the food sharing app, to make this a zero-food-waste event. Tobacco Dock Food worked with the OLIO team to redistribute 388 meals benefitting people in the local area and representing 612kg CO2 emissions and +100,000 litres water saved.

Other highlights included the turfing of East Mall Square to create an oasis complete with deck chairs and hammocks to serve as a catch-up and chill-out area. Quayside Bar lent a touch of glamour to proceedings as a VIP area by day and for both the welcome and closing drinks receptions.
